Overview
Dave is a general manager with a strong record of success in delivering fundamental change in demanding operational environments by turning around problem projects, programmes, activities or services. Delivering business benefits, using IT has been a common theme of his core experience in the airline industry. Experience has been gained in FTSE 100 multi-national organisations and within a ‘Big 5’ consultancy, a specialised air transport consultancy and as an interim manager working for a rapidly growing organisation.
Professional Experience
Independent Consultant – 2007 onwards
CHC Helicopters Assessed the pilot productivity of the Aberdeen and Norwegian bases and developed action plans for improvement. Main activities include the modelling of resource requirements, negotiation with trade union representatives and the introduction of new resource planning and reporting on a European basis.
Thomson Airways Reviewed the use of optimisation technology for the new merged airline and presented key structural and short term actions at Board level.
easyJet As Interim Head of Crew Resource Planning, oversaw transition to a new structure during a time of radical change and high growth. Sponsored business case for the implementation of a Kronos crew pairings optimiser technology, and project managed the integration of the GB Airways crew resources into easyJet.
SH&E – Director - 2006
Senior Director engaged on assignments, including the re-design of the world-wide control centre for an international airline providing improved operational and financial performance.
British Airways – Internal Consultant - 2004 to 2006
Project Director responsible for assessing accommodation needs for the move of the British Airways operation to the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow.
British Airways – General Manager Operations Planning - 2002 to 2004
This role encompassed the planning and scheduling of all key operational resources including aircraft, crew, ground staff, airport infrastructure, engineering maintenance and airport equipment (180 staff). Dave increased the efficiency of the planning function by reducing staff by 25%, and implementing new optimisation software for crew rostering (Carmen for Cabin Crew and SBS for Flight Crew). He also sponsored the fleet rationalisation programme.
British Airways – General Manager Manpower Planning - 1999 to 2002
Responsible for the planning, scheduling and rostering of 3,500 pilots, 13,000 cabin crew and 7,500 operational ground staff in the airline. This activity supported 250 operational aircraft worldwide with 180 staff and £7m direct budget. Dave was part of a team re-designing industrial crew agreements, which unlocked substantial productivity and operational improvements.

Dave held management positions including General Manager IT Solutions, Senior Vice President for Information Management (The Americas), and Business Centre Manager - Passenger Services.
