We are pleased to announce the publication of our second UK Pilot Productivity Monitor, which includes data for 2008. The UK Airline Pilot Productivity Monitor is the first public domain analysis of its kind, and highlights the signficant differences in unit pilot costs and hours flown, two of the key measures that need to be considered when assessing the efficiency of aircrew deployment.
Invenzyme Director and Monitor Editor Jim Paton comments: "This issue illustrates how the number of pilots employed increased at a faster rate than actual flying in 2008. Together with the peaking of average pilot employment costs, this signals that action to trim before workforce and wages are likely, and this is indeed borne out by industry news at the present time."
STOP PRESS 15 October 2009:
An error in the scale used in Graph 5 and Table A3 had crept into the original report and has been corrected. The scale of the cost per ASK data was a factor of 10 too great. If you have downloaded an earlier version, you can obtain a copy of the amended report via the link below.
